Glengarry

glengarryThe Glengarry is a boat shaped cap with no peak, made from heavy milled wool material, and a toorie on top, and flat ribbons hanging down the back. The glengarry is commonly worn as part of Scottish military and civilian dress.

The unique shape of this cap makes it very unique, in the fact that it can be folded flat when not in use, and pops open and retains it shape for wearing.

Although the Glengarry has it origins in Military history it is also commonly worn by civilians, notably civilian pipe bands. It is also considered an appropriate hat worn by males with Highland casual or evening dress.

The correct way to wear the Glengarry is level on your head, level front to back, although prior to world war II it was typically worn on a steep angle, the right side was worn low almost to the ear, while the side adorning the cap badge was higher on the wearers head.
