Kilt Skirts

As with a kilt, kilted skirts are similar in the use of tartans for the coloring of the skirt.
The selected coloring or tartan is based on your family or clan tartan, some National tartans are available for kilted skirts as well.
Kilted skirts have a few variations in their construction, the length varies and the amount of pleats can vary as well.
A Kilted skirt will be made of 10oz Tartan, which is 100% worsted wool. They are typically available in around 500 tartans.
Like a kilt they are made to measure, which means you would have to supply your skirt maker with Waist, Hip and Length measurements, and similar to a kilt they can have either 2 or 3 buckles for fastening them to the wearer.
The length can vary between the standard 27” to 30” this is usually done in half inch increments.
The kilted skirt is usually worn as a formal or semi formal dress, with a wide range of tartan accessories, you can go formally with a blouse and tartan plaid pinned at the shoulder, a nice mix between formal and semi formal would to wear a turtleneck in a solid color and pin the fly plaid to your right shoulder.
You could also adorn your kilted skirt with a decorative kilt pin, or fly plaid with a brooch.
